🎓 Announcing the 2025 EMDA Scholarship Recipient – Jonathan Metsker

We’re proud to announce Jonathan Metsker as the recipient of the 2025 EMDA Scholarship!

Jonathan is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree while working toward his instrument rating and commercial pilot certificate. As a licensed private pilot, he has a unique perspective on how aviation can support the growth and efficiency of the shortline agricultural equipment industry.

With a deep appreciation for the innovation and mobility that define the shortline sector, Jonathan sees aviation as a critical tool for connecting with customers across the vast and often remote territories that shortline dealers and reps serve. By cutting down on travel time—like his recent trip flying from Missouri to Wyoming—he aims to increase the speed and frequency of face-to-face meetings, helping companies like Hood and Company build stronger relationships and close more sales.

“The shortline ag industry covers a lot of ground—literally,” Jonathan shared. “Getting my instrument rating will allow me to reach more customers, more efficiently, and ultimately contribute to the growth of a business that thrives on direct, personal connections.”

The shortline industry depends on agility, innovation, and strong distributor relationships—qualities that Jonathan embodies. His commitment to expanding his skill set and serving the industry through both technical expertise and personal initiative makes him an outstanding recipient of this year’s scholarship.

Congratulations, Jonathan! We’re excited to support your journey and to see the impact you’ll make in the shortline ag world.
