Honoring a respected industry leader whose influence reached far beyond manufacturing.
The Equipment Marketing & Distribution Association (EMDA) joins our friends and industry partners at the Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association (FEMA) in mourning the passing of Don Landoll, 83, founder and president of Landoll Company, who passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Don was more than a successful manufacturer and respected industry leader. He was a mentor, a friend, and a passionate supporter of the relationships that make the farm equipment industry so special.
As a longtime FEMA member and its president from 1990 to 1991, Don dedicated much of his life to strengthening the shortline equipment industry. His commitment extended well beyond his own company, touching manufacturers, distributors, independent sales representatives, and countless industry professionals.
A Legacy Built on Relationships
While Don was a member of FEMA, his influence was also deeply felt throughout the EMDA community.
Landoll Company has built lasting business relationships with many of the independent manufacturers' representatives and distributors who are members of EMDA. These partnerships represent something Don understood well: the success of our industry depends on strong relationships, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to helping one another grow.
From humble beginnings in a small Kansas blacksmith shop, Don built Landoll Company into a respected equipment manufacturing business. His entrepreneurial spirit, determination, and commitment to innovation made him an inspiration to generations of industry professionals.
Yet, among his greatest contributions were the relationships he cultivated along the way.
Don was known for sharing his knowledge, encouraging others, supporting fellow manufacturers, and remaining personally involved in the industry he loved. His generosity extended to his employees, his community in Marysville, Kansas, and the many people who had the privilege of knowing him.
An Industry Leader Who Will Be Remembered
Don's dedication to the shortline equipment industry was recognized when he was inducted into FEMA's inaugural Shortline Legends Hall of Fame class in 2023.
His impact reminds us why organizations like EMDA and FEMA exist: to bring people together, create opportunities, and strengthen the relationships that help our industry thrive.
Although Don's accomplishments in manufacturing were remarkable, the friendships he formed and the people he inspired may be his most enduring legacy.
Our Deepest Condolences
On behalf of the EMDA Board of Directors and our entire membership, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Landoll family, the employees of Landoll Company, our friends at FEMA, and everyone whose life was touched by Don.
We are grateful for the contributions he made to our industry and for the lasting partnerships he helped build.
His legacy will live on through the company he created, the people he mentored, and the relationships that continue to connect our industry.
He will be deeply missed.
