Chris Rankin, Vice President, of Rankin Equipment Co., Yakima, WA, and Ida Van Scyoc, General Manager, of S3 Delta Harrows, Shenandoah, IA, have accepted the nominations for election to the EMDA Board of Directors. The election will take place at the Association’s Corporate Annual Meeting in Kansas City, MO, on November 1, 2023.
Rankin and Van Scyoc were selected by the Nominations Committee chaired by Mark Tibbitts, General Implement Distributors, Salt Lake City, UT, and committee members Adam Scott, Hayward Ag and Construction, Columbus, OH, and Nathan Cummings, Cummings and Bricker, Inc. Carlisle, PA.
Chris was born and raised in Yakima, Washington, and received a B.S. in Global Studies from the University of California in 2005. In 2007, Chris joined his family-owned wholesale distributor and manufacturer company – Rankin Equipment and Northstar Attachments. Chris is currently serving as Vice President of his 5th-generation Company. Rankin Equipment represents more than 30 equipment manufacturers from North America, Europe, and Asia and owns Northstar Attachments, LLC- an equipment manufacturer. Their geographic location puts them at the heart of very diverse agriculture production in the Yakima Valley. As a specialized manufacturer, they work alongside dealers and growers to design some of the most innovative products in the industry. Rankin has grown steadily over the past few generations, and they contribute their success to a hard-working team, and continued involvement in organizations and associations like EMDA.
Chris enjoys traveling with his two boys, ages 16 and 12, in his spare time, hiking, skiing, and camping.
The EMDA Bylaws were amended in fall, 2010, to add an Associate Delegate to the Board of Directors. Associate Delegates to the Board serve a two-year term.
Ida Van Scyoc has been nominated to replace Andy Robson, North American Sales Manager for Teagle Machinery, Ltd., Truro, Cornwall England who has served his final term as Associate Delegate.
Ida Van Scyoc was born and raised in Tecumseh, NE. After completing her Associate of Applied Science – Agriculture Business & Management in 1998, she went to Bellevue University, where she received her Bachelor of Science – Management of Human Resources in 2007. While getting her bachelor’s she began her career at Auburn Consolidated Industries, Inc. as a Human Resources Specialist. In 2007, She began working for Rem Manufacturing which later rebranded to S3 Delta Harrows in 2014. Ida currently serves as the General Manager at S3 Delta Harrows. They are a division of S3 Group Ltd., which is a group of companies that manufactures farm equipment and is a supplier of farm equipment components. S3 Group has 5 locations across North America with S3 Delta Harrows currently being the sole U.S.-based division. S3 Group has been a loyal Member of EMDA since 2011.
Ida is the devoted wife to Tandon Van Scyoc. Together they love spending time outdoors with their horses and dogs. In her free time, she loves gardening, hiking, backpacking, and orienteering/adventure racing.
EMDA Board members are elected for a three-year term, and are eligible to serve two terms. The EMDA Nominations Committee also proposed the re-election to the Board of Shannon Soparlo, Adair Sales and Marketing Co. Inc. Swift Current, SK Canada to serve as 1st Vice President. Current Board members serving terms through 2024 include: Trey Price, Price Bros. Equipment Wichita, KS who will serve as Treasurer; and Kris Yancey, Implement Sales Co. Monroe, GA. who will serve as 2nd Vice President. Board members serving terms through 2025 include: Bob Doran, Doran Distribution Services , Mt. Horeb, WI who will serve as President and then Treasurer; and Josh Overholser, SISCO, Greenville, OH, who will serve as Secretary and then 2nd Vice President.
Under the provisions of EMDA’s Bylaws, nominations for election to the Board are from the Nominations Committee or by any 10 or more member firms who prepare and file a written nomination signed by all nominators (and accompanied by the written consent of the nominee or nominees to serve if elected) with the EMDA Board of Directors or EMDA’s Executive Vice President at least 30 days prior to the Association’s Annual Meeting.
The EMDA Board of Directors meets during the Fall Convention and once during the Spring. The Board also participates in several conference calls over the course of the membership year. ###
